Corona Virus (COVID-19) - How it can turn opportunities into Vacuum

A month back I thought my luck is shining like a star in the sky. After serveral rounds of Interview I got a Job with an opportunity to move back to California (State which my spouse is passionate to live in), nice salary, reasonable perks etc.

But today due to Corona Outbreak, whole world is going upside down same as with me. U.S.C.I.S stopped premium processing of Visas until further notice and economy is swinging towards uncertainity. So my future employer HR called me last friday and told they are in process of taking precautionary measures(one of them is stopping any new recruitment)  to face the current degrading economy in addition to changes imposed by U.S.C.I.S., so they would like to Cancel the offer they made to me and stop the immigration process that is in progress by their immigration legal team.

My Current Visa is going to expire in 56 days, still my current employer not filed for an extension citing technical reasons related to Task order or something.

Stocks are in record low so obviously 401k(retirement investment) and Shares / Savings everything sliding towards negative.

So in these hard times, only gain is having a family who supports me and kid whose innocent smile that can take away mental burden atleast for few minutes.

Looks Funny right? Sometimes I feel that this quote is quite apt to my Professional Life.

Without knowing strengths and weakness of thyself, aiming for a goal is not the proper way of attempt.

I learnt this after years of experience. Now I want to change my Strategy of Game Plan...Let's see what I could achieve...

Where am I?

It's almost 9 months that I came to US, but what I achieved in my 5 years of career. Am I doing the work suitable for my potential? I guess not.

Hurray!!! Got my H1B last week.....

The day I see in my dreams became true last week. For many of IT employees still it is a dream. I am talking about working in Onsite. On 2nd August, I went to Visa Interview to Chennai. After few questions and normal process I got my visa approved.

3 More Months...to take the decision!!!

I want to get settled in life. I dont want to run after big perks. To do this, I need to get good hike so that I can concentrate on my life enrichment and career growth. These days I am unable to focus on work. I am doing my job but there is no satisfaction in doing the work.

According to me work should be passionate. One should never feel unhappy about what he is doing - whether it is development or support. I never bothered about the technology which I am working on. I was bothered about my life how it is going to be turned out in the coming days.....

I m not getting proper sleep these days

For an employee to be a complete satisfied, according to me 3 things will play the role. One is Job Satisfaction, second is healthy team environment, obviously the third one is which everyone ran about i.e. salary package.

I am very much privileged to have the second one. Here why I am not disclosing the information about the one and three is, I am not happy about those two.

Trying to fit in New Role

I proved myself as a good programmer / developer. Now the time came to prove myself as a good leader who can guide the team while facing challenges. Ofcourse, for everyone accepting new responsibilites is a bit difficult in the starting. I am not different to that. Patience, cool mindedness, and dynamic response are the essentials to be sucessful as a leader.

Like my previous company identified a splendid feature called flexibility in me, this company identified another feature called leadership skills in me. Being a leader how much I can gain more technical knowldge not sure, but enjoying the new role for now.

Lets see how my future will be moulded in 2012. Hope it should be good :)
